Turkish Airlines 737 crash at Amsterdam
A Boeing 737 of Turkish Airlines crashed while attempting to land at Amsterdam Airport. The aircraft broke up into three pieces. There were reportedly 135 passengers on board. At a press conference at Amsterdam Airport, authorities confirmed nine people died in the accident, including the two pilots flying the plane plus an additional crew member on the jumpseat. More than 50 people were seriously injured.
As often in these cases, news reports are conflicting and often inaccurate. CNN was even reporting that the aircraft was an Airbus A380... A Dutch site wrote that the plane veered off the runway after landing, only to contradict this by saying that it was bound for Istanbul. I wish the media would be more careful when making statements...
